Zana Boxing Club have on Tuesday morning unveiled their new home located at Ndejje road, Lufuka.
The new club Chairman Stephen Sembuya Magulu who played a tremendous role in setting up a home for Zana Boxing club believes that this will help them nurture talented boxers in the area.
“We have been facing various challenges like our Boxers have been training at Zana Playgrounds. When the Executive of the club appointed me as the new Chairman, I decided to find a suitable place where we are to set up a well equipped gym for our Boxers.”
“Our new location will be used for nurturing talented boxers in the slums of Zana and nearby areas.”
“We want to produce Boxing champions in Uganda and on the continental level.”
Sembuya on what motivates him into the game of Boxing
“Personally I love Boxing as a sport and have been supporting various boxers in the country in my own capacity.” Many clubs came to me but I chose Zana Boxing club and I have hope that I will become the most productive club in the country.”
Shafik Kiwanuka one of the outstanding Professional Boxers in the country thanked Sembuya for staging up a home for the club
“I am really excited that Mr. Sembuya has helped Zana Boxing club get a home.” I thank him because Boxers in the club have been struggling during training, they have been having sessions in the slums of Zana but now they have their own home.” I also train with Zana Boxing club because it is near my home place, so we are engaged.”
Zana Boxing Club has over 80 Boxers who are under the stewardship of coach Abu Mukiibi. The club is also a feeder to Sembuya Boxing club located in Namugongo.
For starters, Zana Boxing club was started by the late Isa Kikungwe with the aim of helping Boxers in the slums of Zana. Previously the Club has been having its training sessions at Lufuka Ku Nnya Playground in Zana.
