Vipers SC clinched the Azam Uganda Premier league title for the third time in the club’s history. Dan Sserunkuma who had an impressive season expressed his delight upon finishing as the leading goal scorer of the season. He says,
“It is a pleasure for me to have finished the season as the top scorer, it’s not easy but i managed to make it. I couldn’t have done this without the help of my teammates and coaches at the club.”
Sserunkuma also says that victories against Villa and KCCA were the turning points for their magnificent season and then arrival of Eddie Butindo as technical director at the club.
“I do believe that victories against Villa and KCCA were the turning points in our season. We played both sides desperate of maximum points and we managed to do so.
The arrival of Eddie Butindo was also a big addition to the club, he is like a father to me and he has also motivated us even when things were not on our side.”
Sserunkuma scored 17 league goals this season, 6 of the goals coming in the first round during his short time at Express.
He will now turn focus to guiding Vipers to a double but they will have to overcome a tricky huddle in the Stanbic Uganda cup as they take on SC Villa in the semifinals.
