SC Villa’s title challenge credentials were put to a huge test yesterday at Kakyeka stadium when they threw away their 1-0 lead with only seconds away to full time.

Yubu Bogere had given the Jogoos a well deserved lead in the 38th minute but Ambrose Kirya, Allan Kyambadde and Bogere himself failed to extend the lead with a host of chances

“We didn’t play like a team challenging for the title, we went to Mbarara well aware what the stakes were but I am so disappointed that we couldn’t take away our chances and ended up squandering our points at the death”

Lamented a disappointed Mukatabala.

SC Villa’s technical bench will however be questioned for their decision to withdraw Yubu Bogere and Allan Kyambadde for off players in Lwesibawa and Mukasa Musa.

They thought the had seen out the match but in the 91st minute of additional time, Mukasa Musa handled the ball inside the forbidden area and Emmanuel Ibe Obinna penalised them

SC Villa are now 2 points behind Vipers SC and they host Kirinya JSS, where as Mbarara city will take their relegation fight to Masavu FC. Mbarara City sit 13th on the log only a point above Express FC in 14th.

Other Saturday 28th April results

Maroons FC 1-1 Express FC

Kirinya JSS 1-2 Bright Stars
