Boxers who rejected to sign contracts with the Uganda Boxing Federation led by Bombers captain Shadir Musa Bwogi have petitioned the Uganda Olympic Committee to intervene on issue.

David Ssemujju and Catherine Nanziri are the other Olympians yet to sign with the Federation.

The development was revealed in a document titled “Violation of boxers rights to participate in Uganda Boxing Federation organized competitions.”

During a press briefing held on at East Coast gym, Bwogi stated that they will not put pen to paper because this is unacceptable in amateur Boxing

“We shall keep our word like we earlier stated that we are not going to sign the contract with the Uganda Boxing Federation.”

” Contracts that violate our rights as Boxers are not acceptable in the game.”

“We therefore call upon the Chairperson of Athletes commission Ganzi Mugula and the Uganda Olympic Committee to intervene so that our future in the sport is rescued.”

Meanwhile, UBF President Moses Muhangi told the coaches during a meeting on Tuesday that Boxers who are yet to sign contracts still have a chance to be on the National team in case NCS does release funds for trials.

“Boxers who have not signed contracts for Champions Legue still have a chance to be on the National Team. However, this will come through National trials and if government releases money for trials. If government does not provide money for National trials, then top boxers in the Champions league will be considered.”

Stated Muhangi.

The Champions league is scheduled to kick off on 4th, December and will act as the qualification campaign for the 2022 Commonwealth Games and the Africa Games in 2024.
