MATCH PREVIEW : KCCA set to negotiate opener against tricky Wakiso Giants

BY DAVID GOMBE

Reigning Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC will begin their title defense against new entrants Wakiso Giants today at StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

This will be the first topflight meeting between the two sides but they recently met in the Pilsner Super 8 with KCCA FC winning 2-0.

Mike Mutebi’s side will begin life without the industrious trio of Patrick Henry Kaddu, Allan Kyambadde and Timothy Denis Awany who left for greener pastures during the transfer window.

However, the Lugogo outfit signed Erisa Sekisambu, Simon Sserunkuma and John Revita.

Wakiso on the other hand recruited early and appear to be a serious side heading into the new season. Kefa Kisala was appointed to replace Ibrahim Kirya who was instrumental in guiding the side to the top tier.

Duncan Seninde, Tom Masiko, Derrick Emukule, veteran striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma, Aggrey Madoi, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Viane Sekajugo, Muwadda Mawejje, Ivan Sebuguzi, Simon Peter Namwanja, Lawrence Bukenya and Kirizestom Ntambi are the new signings at the club.

Mutebi is optimistic that his side will fly to win

“We have prepared well for the first challenge of the season, Wakiso are a decent side whom i expect to put up great performances in the season.” We are confident and have enough in our armoury to negotiate the tie and fly to win.” Stated Mutebi

KCCA FC will be without the trio of Julius Poloto, Sadam Juma and Hassan Jurua due to respective injuries.

They will rely on Allan Okello, Sekisambu and Charles Lukwago for inspiration.

Wakiso will be without Lawrence Bukenya due to ineligibility to face his parent club.

Hakim Ssenkumba, Muwadda Mawejje and Geoffrey Sserunkuma will be facing their former paymasters and are expected to fire Kisala’s side to positive results.
