Fahad Bayo was once again on the score sheet for the third time this season as Ashdod FC beat Hapoel Tel Aviv 2-1 in the Israeli Premier League on Thursday night.

Bayo scored Ashdod’s equalizer in the 13th minute, shortly after Gil Yitzhak had put Hapoel Tel Aviv ahead with a four minute strike.

Roy Gordana gave Ashdod the lead a minute to half-time break.

The Uganda Cranes striker was replaced by Firas Abu Aql in the 83rd minute.

Ashdod coach Ben Shimon had to negotiate the fixture without nine of his players who were ruled out by COVID-19. Ugandan defender Timothy Denis Awany also missed the game due to injury.

The Israeli Premier League will go into another forced break for the third time this season due to COVID-19.

Bayo’s third goal came a week after scoring the club’s winning goal against Beitar Jerusalem in the last game of the 2020.

Ashdod are third on the league table with 25 points accumulated from 14 games played.

Elsewhere Ugandan forward William Kizito Luwagga was also in action for Hapoel Kfar Saba who beat Maccabi Petah Tikva 2-0.
