Charting a New Course: The Journey of Uganda Cranes with Paul Put

Brace yourselves for an epic showdown as the Uganda Cranes prepare to take on Comoros in an exhilarating international friendly match.

The stage is set, with this highly anticipated fixture scheduled for an electrifying Friday/Saturday morning in the vibrant arena of Moroccan football.

Under the astute guidance of coach Joseph Paul Put, the Uganda Cranes have undergone an awe-inspiring transformation, assembling a squad that blends fresh faces from the local league with foreign debutants, making for a truly exciting lineup.

The likes of Athlone FC striker Carl James Mujaguzi, alongside Hearts’ defensive duo Tobby Sibbick and Charlton Athletics’ rising star Nathan Asiimwe, have received their first national team call-ups, carrying the dreams and aspirations of an entire nation.

Yet, amidst the thrill and anticipation, time remains a scarce resource.

Coach Put understands the challenges that come with integrating new players into an existing framework.

“We have a lot of new faces, and it’s evident that they are not yet accustomed to playing alongside each other,” he admits.

However, he remains optimistic about the team’s potential, stating, “I firmly believe that each and every player brings a unique set of strengths to the table.

It’s about finding the right balance within the team, especially given the unfortunate injuries we’ve faced in some positions.”

Regrettably, the Cranes will have to soldier on without the services of key national team players due to injury.

The absence of skipper Khalid Aucho, midfield maestro Bobosi Byaruhanga, the returning Allan Kyambadde, and the reliable goalkeeping duo of Salim Jamal and Ismail Watenga presents an undeniable challenge.

However, the spirit of the team remains unyielding, as they eagerly embrace this new chapter in their journey.

Over on the Comoros side, coach Stefano Henri Cusin has summoned a talented 24-man squad, primed not only for their clash against Uganda but also for a thrilling encounter with Angola.

The stage is set for an intriguing battle between equally determined opponents.

Looking ahead, once the dust settles from the Comoros encounter, the Uganda Cranes will lock horns with the formidable Ghana Black Stars on Tuesday, March 26.

Undoubtedly, this promises to be a tantalizing contest that will put the team’s mettle to the test.

As we delve into the depths of this captivating journey, it’s worth acknowledging the incredible blend of talent within the summoned squad.

From the steadfast goalkeeping skills of Tom Ikara and Jack Komakech to the defensive prowess of Elvis Bwomono and Timothy Awany, the midfield artistry of Allan Kyambadde and Ronald Ssekiganda, and the attacking flair of Milton Karisa and Fahad Bayo – every position is fortified with skill, determination, and unwavering commitment to the national cause.
