CAF confirms new dates for U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football has revealed new dates for the final qualification round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The games are now scheduled for 30th October – 1st November (first leg) while the second legs will be played between 19th – 21st November.

Initially, the final qualification round games were meant to be played in May but were postponed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Six nations will vie for three slots available for African nations in the U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in India early next year.

Uganda will tussle it out with Cameroon, South Africa face Morocco while rivals Ghana and Nigeria meet in their other duel.

Uganda will host the first leg while the return leg will be in Cameroon. An aggregate win for any team will automatically book them a berth in the World Cup.

To reach this stage, Uganda walloped neighbors Tanzania 6-2 over the two legs in the first round. Cameroon thumped Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 on aggregate.

The Uganda U-17 team is under the tutelage of Ayub Khalifa and is expected to rely on Juliet Nalukenge, Fauzia Najjemba, Shamira Nalugya, Shakira Nyinagahirwa, Margret Kunihira among others.

The U-17 Women’s World Cup was initially slated for November this year but was postponed to February 17th- March 7th 2021.
