Bright Stars thrash Busoga United to move out of relegation zone

DAVID GOMBE

Bright Stars thrashed Busoga United 3-0 at Kavumba Recreation grounds to move out of the relegation zone.

Goals from Ronald Ssempala, Jamil Kaliisa and Joseph Janjali inspired Bright Stars to victory.

On the 25th minute mark, Ssempala started the visitor’s misery when he tapped in a quality Muwadda Mawejje cross.

Bright Stars trio of Janjali, Juma Ssebaduka and Samuel Ssekitto could have extended their lead in the first period but denied by Busoga goalie Roger Omedwa.

In the 73rd minute, Kaliisa doubled the hosts advantage off another Muwadda cross before Janjali emphatically sealed victory four minutes later.

Busoga failed to mount a comeback and the result left them languishing in 6th place with 30 points and will next host URA FC in their next league encounter.

Victory sees Paul Kiwanuka coached side move from 14th to 11th place on 23 points in 21 games. They will next face Police FC in their next league fixture.
