AIRTEL RISING STARS : Shuuku, Unique High crowned Western Region champions

Shuuku from Sheema District beat Young Simba in a penalty shootout to win this year’s Airtel Rising Stars U17 Western Region girls championship as the 2019 regional qualifiers successfully concluded in Masindi District on Sunday.

The girls encounter ended in a goalless stalemate in normal time.

In the shootout, Shuuku prevailed 3-2 to clinch the championship.

Unique High School from Rubirizi won Ssendyowa on penalties 6-5 to claim the boys title after a goalless draw.

In the shootout, Sunday Vincent, Christen Sasirabo, Shakibu Nazilo, Richard Tumwebaze, Alex Talemwa, Andrew Kisembo were on target for Unique High.

Yusuf Fahad, Emmanuel Twebaze, Hamza Wasswa, Abdul Bust, Mayisal Luyinda scored Ssendyowa’s kicks whereas Hamis Jamil missed from the spot.

Following the conclusion of the regional qualifiers, focus will now turn to the nationals due for 3rd-7th September at StarTimes Stadium.

The undisputed champion will walk away with a prize money of 7million while the runners up will bag 5million.

The winners received 1.5 million each while the runners up walked away with 1million Ugandan Shillings.
